wish fountain - Art City Edition!
I was a guest artist in residence for one week at Art City, an artist-run center and community arts organization in the West Broadway neighborhood in Winnipeg ( MB).
Throughout the week we designed, built, painted and bedazzled a large scale fountain sculpture and we populated a website with art city created imagery. On the second last day of the workshop the fountain was installed at The Forks in downtown Winnipeg, alongside a QR code that led to our wish fountain website. Realizing this project with the incredible community of participants, volunteers and staff at Art City was truly a dream. This project takes up the theme of wishmaking, an ever present theme in our daily life, and adds an element of joyful reciprocity in an often solo pursuit. The project was playful and fun, while also engaging a strong sense of hope and community building. Thanks to my father, Paul Doucet for all his support building the frame of the fountain.
